| May 11th, 2015|| The Group met at Kanata Beaver Pond for the Annual Swim-up event. Our White Tail (senior) Beavers were welcomed into the Cub Packs that they will be with next year, and the senior Cubs were paddled across the Pond by Scouts to be welcomed into the Troop. Certificates of Appreciation for Keeos, Youth Awards and Medals of the Maple were presented to Cubs, Scouts and Venturers. And the evening was rounded off with Hot-dogs.|
| May 2nd, 2015||1st Kanata Group was joined by 4th Kanata and we planted 500 White Pine trees as part of our our annual Scoutrees Planting. This year we were in the Stoney Swamp area of the Green Belt.|
| April 27th, 2015|| Troop And Company cleaned up their adopted park - Kanata Town Centre Core Park. We gathered 20 bags full of garbage and a large piece of scaffolding. All were treated to a DQ treat afterwards.|
| April 24/25th, 2015|| Our most successful Annual BikeExchange. Over 450 Bikes found new owners and we had close to 1000 visitors. Thanks to our supporters and sponsors: KRP, Hertz, Zone3Sports, Starbucks and MetroMedia. This year we were joined by the Safer Roads Ottawa team from Ottawa.ca.|
| February 28th, 2015|| The Annual Klondike Derby. Two 1st Kanata Scout Troop teams competed with other Scout Troops from around the Carleton Area in a combination of sled racing and scouting skill Challenges. Our Sled Team 1 wind the Junior Trophy.|
| February 23rd, 2015|| The whole Group came together for Founders Day to celebrate the life, achievements and legacy of Lord Baden-Powell, the Founder of the Scouting Movement. His actual birthday was 22 February.|
| February 6/8th, 2015|| Members of the Scout Troop had a weekend of winter camping. We built and slept in Quinzhees. The only complaint was "we are too warm".|
| January 28th, 2015|| Scouts and Venturers snow-shoed into the South March Highlands for our annual expedition to clean out the Duck Boxes that we had installed in previous years. We also installed 6 new boxes.|
| November 22/23rd, 2014|| A Game and a Pizza and not too much sleep at the Sens Sleepover.|
| November 15, 2014|| Beavers and Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and parents walk together with our 1st Kanata Float in the Annual Kanata Santa Claus Parade. |

| November 1st, 2014|| Cubs and Scouts helped collect food and raise money from shoppers for the Kanata Food Cupboard, and the our Venturers helped sort the food at the Store. We helped collect and sort almost 3 tonnes for food.|
| October 11th, 2014|| Beaver, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers handed out apples to the members of our community as part of Apple Day.|

| July 8/13th, 2014|| Scouts from the Troop had a challenging few days on the Summer Canoe Expedition to La Verendrye. Despite the mosquitoes, rain, leeches, headwinds and muddy portages - we all had a great time.|
| June 15th, 2014|| The 1st Kanata Group Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of our new Group Commissioner; Graham Birkenhead. Previously, Graham was the Troop Scouter for the past three years and brings new ideas to this community leadership role. Congratulations Graham!|
| June 13/15th, 2014|| Troop held their Canoe Training Camp where participants learned all the essential paddling and control techniques and emergency drills needed for the forthcoming Summer Expedition.|

| April 12th, 2014||The first all-pack Kub Kar Rally was held at the local community centre. Families worked together to make fast and uniquely designed Kub Kars that were put to the test on the new computerized track. It can be a photo-finish and thank goodness for the timer with ms accuracy!|
| Feb 1st, 2014|| The Venturers summited Algonquin Peak, the 2nd highest in the Adirondacks! Winter camping was comfortable too.|

| April 6-7th, 2013|| 1st Kanata hosted a Wilderness First Aid course for Scouters and youth.This provided the knowledge and skills for adventures in the wilds of Canada.|

| Nov. 11th, 2012|| 1st Kanata took part in the Remembrance Day march to the Cenotaph in Village Green. A Cub and Scout laid a wreath on behalf of 1st Kanata and in remembrance of those fallen and serving our country.|
| Nov. 3rd, 2012|| The Scouts and Venturers help collect and sort ~4200 lbs of food from three area grocery stores for the Kanata Food Cupboard.|
| Oct. 26-28th, 2012||The Scouts were camping at Apple Hill with archery and other skills development activities.|
The Venturers took advantage of a trip to Peterborough area and camped at the Warsaw Caves Conservation Area. Spelunking was a great experience! Definitely a scouting place to visit again!

| August 25, 2012|| The ArcticExpedition returns safely to Kanata after 3 weeks in Pangnirtung, Nunavut. 22 Scouts and Scouters had a fantastic experience either hiking in Auyuittuq National Park for 8 days and/or participating in the SEVEC exchange activities hosted by the Making Connections folks in the hamlet or out "on the land". | July 8th, 2012||The Making Connections group from Pangnirtung took part in many activities as part of the SEVEC exchange. Canada Day celebrations, canoeing at Camp Opemikon, Parliament hill tour, museum of Civilization tour and a day at Calypso Waterpark were the planned events to give them a sense of the south.|
| May 5th, 2012||The scouting families planted at the NCC Watts Creek location. It was great to see the trees growing taller from previous years.Between 1st Kanata and 4th Kanata, 250 trees were planted.|

| February 25th, 2012|| For the second year, 1st Kanata Scouts hosted the Carleton Area Klondike Derby. With a last minute dump of snow, |
the Klondike Derby had ideal conditions for a fun filled day of scouting skills and the sled race finale. The banquet was sponsored in part by Swiss Chalet, Walmart and Loblaws Centrum.

| October 28-30th, 2011|| Both Cobra and Lynx packs held a fall camp at Otter Lake, QC. It was a cold sleep outside for those that dared and weren't prepared, and toasty warm in the cabin for everyone else. It looks like they had fun in an orienteering activity too.|
| October 21-23rd, 2011|| The Troop went into the wilderness at Camp Traill and had a great time. Introductions to cool weather camping, cooking on the light weight stoves, campfires and orienteering skills were demonstrated.|
|September 23-25th, 2011|| The Troop got an early start to fall camping at the CanAm Brotherhood camp in Morrisburg. Among all the well-planned activities, the badge-swapping was most enjoyed by the youth and probably the Scouters too! ;-)|
| August 11-14, 2011|| 1st Kanata Scouts and Venturers took on the Adirondacks (for the 3rd year in a row) to climb Mount Marcy, the highest peak in NY state. Three groups took varied routes and practiced light-weight camping skills in preparation for Baffin Island next year.|

| February 26, 2011 || 1st Kanata hosted the annual Carleton Area Klondike Derby. Great weather and lots of help with Scouters, Venturers and parents created a fun-filled day of sled activities. Our two sleds did well in the friendly competition with wins for Best Sled and Top Senior Sled.

| November 11th, 2010 ||Several youth and Scouters attended the Kanata North Remembrance Day parade and ceremony at the Village Green Cenotaph. The youth smartly carried the flags and lay the wreath.|
|October 22-24th, 2010||Packs were out at Camp Opemikon while the Troop and Company linked in climbing the Cascade Mountain in the Adirondacks.|
Zero degrees at night however everyone reported comfortable sleeping using the correct sleeping bags and technique.

|October 2nd, 2010||The Venturers maintained their first place rank in the annual Crazy Canuk Challenge! Team 2 ranked a respectable 7th as well.|
|August 15th, 2010 ||Seven of our Venturers return after biking across PEI over ten days. The Advisors were on the friendly island, but were only called in case of need. A learning experience for sure and soon to be our 4th entry for the national Amory Award. |
|August 7th, 2010||10 youth and Scouters went into the interior of Algonquin Park for a canoe camp and "Survivorman Challenge". Great skills developed with paddling and portaging. A fun time was had at the High Falls natural water park (located here).|
|June 12th, 2010||Seven youth received their Chief Scout's Award. Congratulations on this very high achievement!|

|October 3rd, 2009||1st Kanata Venture Company places 1st in the annual Crazy Canuk Adventure Challenge amongst 22 Companies in the Ottawa area. They were 31 minutes ahead of 2nd place, completing the canoeing, biking and hiking all within 2 hours 46 minutes. Our 2nd entry placed a respectable 13th overall. |
