Event | | April 6-7th, 2013 | 1st Kanata hosted a Wilderness First Aid course for Scouters and youth. This provided the knowledge and skills for adventures in the wilds of Canada. 1st Dunrobin and 3rd Kanata also participated. Thanks to Jill at CWMT for the excellent course. | | Nov. 11th, 2012 | 1st Kanata took part in the Remembrance Day march to the Cenotaph in Village Green. A Cub and Scout laid a wreath on behalf of 1st Kanata and in remembrance of those fallen and serving our country. | | Nov. 3rd, 2012 | The Scouts and Venturers help collect and sort ~4200 lbs of food from three area grocery stores for the Kanata Food Cupboard. | | Oct. 26-28th, 2012 | The Scouts were camping at Apple Hill with archery and other skills development activities.
The Venturers took advantage of a trip to Peterborough area and camped at the Warsaw Caves Conservation Area. Spelunking was a great experience! Definitely a scouting place to visit again! | | Oct. 13th, 2012 | 1st Kanata ran two Youth Leadership workshops for the Cubs and Scouts. Thanks to Scouter Mike for putting the FLEX and FAST programs into action. | | Sept. 28-30th, 2012 | This was a busy weekend as the Cub Scouts were out at Otter Lake, the Scouts were having a bike camp in the Gatineau's, and the Venturer Scouts were in the US at the Brotherhood camp. | | August 25, 2012 | The ArcticExpedition returns safely to Kanata after 3 weeks in Pangnirtung, Nunavut. 22 Scouts and Scouters had a fantastic experience either hiking in Auyuittuq National Park for 8 days and/or participating in the SEVEC exchange activities hosted by the Making Connections folks in the hamlet or out "on the land". Please see our dedicated webpage "Arctic Expedition". | | July 8th, 2012 | The Making Connections group from Pangnirtung took part in many activities as part of the SEVEC exchange. Canada Day celebrations, canoeing at Camp Opemikon, Parliament hill tour, museum of Civilization tour and a day at Calypso Waterpark were the planned events to give them a sense of the south. | | May 5th, 2012 | The scouting families planted at the NCC Watts Creek location. It was great to see the trees growing taller from previous years. Between 1st Kanata and 4th Kanata, 250 trees were planted.

Please see our dedicated webpage for more information. | | April 21st, 2012 | Once again we sold Rain Barrels as a fundraiser to travel to, and exchange with, the hamlet of Pangnirtung, NU this summer. | | February 25th, 2012 | For the second year, 1st Kanata Scouts hosted the Carleton Area Klondike Derby. With a last minute dump of snow, the Klondike Derby had ideal conditions for a fun filled day of scouting skills and the sled race finale. The banquet was sponsored in part by Swiss Chalet, Walmart and Loblaws Centrum.
Trophy Winners: Best Sled - 1st Stittsville Alpha "C" Top Teamwork Senior Sled - 112th Nepean "E" Top Teamwork Junior Sled - 1st Glen Cairn Falcon "N" Top Points Senior Sled - 3rd Kanata Alpha "I" Top Points Junior Sled - 3rd Kanata Alpha "J" | | October 28-30th, 2011 | Both Cobra and Lynx packs held a fall camp at Otter Lake, QC. It was a cold sleep outside for those that dared and weren't prepared, and toasty warm in the cabin for everyone else. It looks like they had fun in an orienteering activity too.
| | October 21-23rd, 2011 | The Troop went into the wilderness at Camp Traill and had a great time. Introductions to cool weather camping, cooking on the light weight stoves, campfires and orienteering skills were demonstrated.
  | | September 23-25th, 2011 | The Troop got an early start to fall camping at the CanAm Brotherhood camp in Morrisburg. Among all the well-planned activities, the badge-swapping was most enjoyed by the youth and probably the Scouters too! ;-) | | August 11-14, 2011 | 1st Kanata Scouts and Venturers took on the Adirondacks (for the 3rd year in a row) to climb Mount Marcy, the highest peak in NY state. Three groups took varied routes and practiced light-weight camping skills in preparation for Baffin Island next year.
